Rabbi Gary Spero and Minister Patricia Weisman led the celebration to welcome Congregation Beth Torah to their new home with Unity South Bay Spiritual Center.
Original plans to walk from the former Lomita location of Congregation Beth Torah to our site on 237th street had to be cancelled because of the drenching rain on Sunday, Nov. 20. However, the scrolls and the members of the congregation arrived safely at 1 p.m. and the ceremony for opening a new space took place with the enthusiastic participation of Unity and Congregation Beth Torah members.
Members of both congregations joyously took turns in carrying the Torah around the sanctuary.
After the ceremonies, the welcome continued with cookies and stimulating conversation. Pictures can be viewed in our gallery. The Monday edition of the Daily Breeze also had a story and pictures of the new sharing of space between the two houses of prayer. http://www.dailybreeze.com/ci_19326601?IADID
